Brandy's lameness is really only apparent when the ground is frozen. the vet out to look at her and she has some arthritis above her hooves in the front. On days where it is rough out, her lameness if definitely apparent but on days where there is snow to walk on or the ground is not frozen, then she is fine. The vet said the rest of her joints are all in really good shape so this seems like something that can be corrected or worked with. She just has days where she is sore. The vet did not say to restrict her action or anything like that. Brandy continues to thrive with the day campers who come to the ASAP farm.  She is walking better than ever now, without shoes. She is aided by a wonderful farrier who believes in natural hoof trimming and has helped her to the point where she no longer needs shoes. She is happy and the pinned ears and open mouth have all but disappeared.  We are proud to say Brandy is very happy at ASAP but the right person could win her over - come and see if you are the one!  Brandy is being ridden on a regular basis with a hackamore and goes both bareback and under Western saddle.  She has never offered to buck, rear, or do anything and is a perfect riding horse

Stylish Sharon

Stylishsharon

22 year old Standardbred mare - trained to ride - 15 hands tall - needs TLC - very affectionate and sweet and willing to please. She had a disorder, possibly nutrition related, this past winter that made her hair fall out in many places on her face and body. Possibly mange mites. Treated and fed and doing well now.

Holly

Holly came into the ASAP program several years ago. She has never found an adoptive family. Holly has a severe swayback, and has some nervous tendencies when separated from the herd. It is best that Holly finds a home where she can finish out her life and just enjoy the company of other horses. She is a submissive horse in a herd. She was placed with ASAP in 2004 or 2005 (would have to go back and see) and we were given the age of 16 as her true age. She is supposed to be a Standardbred, yet we believe she does have some Arabian blood in there somewhere. Her true age would be closer to mid to late 20's at this time.
